Range Rover Sport - Velocity Blue

JLR Commercial Directed by Boo George

Music

Cheeky and visceral this track needed some swagger...but the confidence had to remain playful. It's a giant game of chase after all. The track was written so it could be disassembled and remade to fit an array of different requirements.

First and foremost the music should work emotionally as a track regardless of the below.

Double bass keeps it cool, triangle creates intrigue, guitars add chunk and power, and lazy tambourine adds swagger.

For the shorter performance marketing films, pad sounds were teased out into longer sections to take the lead when showing calmer features on some of them such as interiors or details. For others the triangle and double bass are pushed to show sophistication.

Through into the website, the track is modularised for near realtime assembly of bespoke films with customer-chosen features - but because we knew about this from the beginning, the track was designed to be able to be rebuilt in different ways while keeping each one coherent and consistently on-brand.

This is the beauty of bespoke-written tracks in close collaboration with the production, brand and marketing teams from the beginning: the value of the investment continually improves with new related assets as the track has been built to accommodate the various manifestations of the campaign and it can adapt as briefs evolve.

In reality this can be done with any track, the trick is in knowing how to adapt it.

First and foremost though the music should work emotionally as a track regardless of anything else!
